Department Store Buyer for Fathima Group Of Companies, Abu Dhabi




Exp: 6 - 9 yrs. | Salary: $2001 - $4000

Job Purpose
To develop and implement department product strategy and tactical plans, to ensure that the merchandise ranges purchased reflect the retail trends at best value and the planned stock figures

Key Accountabilities

 Establish the seasonal strategy and range structure and assortment plan for the department
 Prepare annual business plans and buy budgets for the department in line in conjunction of review and analyses presented by the Retail Head.
 Manage season product planning (drop wise keeping in consideration right look with optimum product mix and adhering to cost ) for the department
 Visit suppliers abroad and attend fairs (for clothes, shoes etc) in search of new styles and to follow-up on latest fashion trends to gather a fashion culture
 Present the trends of the department to the Retail Head
 Manage the buying team in their creation and delivery of a profitable and commercial range for the department as per trends
 Drive the buying team to deliver as per the business plans and targets for the department
 Establish and maintain quality standards with respect to styling and acceptable standards
 Responsible for working on pre-determined and structured range and sales plan to meet agreed sales and margin targets
 Ensure the ranges are selected and planned within the time scales giving sufficient lead time for vendors to deliver
 Monitor the pricing strategy for the department according to market studies and internal guidelines
 Responsible for signing off selling price including markdowns , input margin and quantity on buyers range plan and preparation of OTB strategy
 Responsible for managing the sales targets, gross profit targets & stock turn targets for the department
 Maintain and grows the department /category and its stores share and sales
 Develop new avenues for promoting the department /categories
 Identify vendors , short-listing of the potential vendors as partners and negotiating commercials and terms for new brands/suppliers
 Monitor brand performance through analytical reports and conduct comparative market studies of competitors’ performance
 Maintain high level of product expertise, ensuring product knowledge is promulgated to the team
 Conduct regular visits etc to the stores to control the quality of merchandize and gather sales team input on customers’ feedback
 Responsible for all related activities for the department in Advertising, promotion, , marketing, VM
Prepare and plan for PSR (pre and post) for onward product range building/assortment planning
 Motivating, development and training of the team
 Ensure that personal behavior reflects the vision and values of the business
 Meet and agree performance targets and ways of working
 Any other works assigned for business
